Commanders could sign Devin Bush

Although the Washington Commanders secured the services of linebacker Cody Barton from the Seattle Seahawks, the departure of Cole Holcomb means more is needed. And there is a definite opening to acquire someone like Devin Bush.

Holcomb penned a three-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is the same team where Bush plied his trade, which probably means he is now surplus to requirements and free to find a new home unless a compromise is reached.

While this represents a gamble considering Bush has never lived up to his high-end first-round billing, he was picked in the top 10 for a reason. The athleticism and explosiveness are there, even if it hasn’t been consistent enough at the NFL level more often than not.

Much will depend on how much the Commanders value Barton and what they plan to do during the 2023 NFL Draft. But acquiring Bush on a short-term, incentivized deal should be discussed.

The fact Bush hasn’t been snapped up yet indicates that the market isn’t exactly robust. He looks like a good scheme fit in Jack Del Rio’s system and would be coming into the Commanders with the biggest chip imaginable on his shoulder after the Steelers went with Holcomb.
