Commanders could sign Isaiah Wynn

The Washington Commanders have added to their offensive line with two veteran signings in the last few days, Nick Gates and Andrew Wylie are serviceable and should have roles to play on this restructured unit, which needs a significant makeover for Eric Bieniemy to hit the ground running.

While going down the 2023 NFL Draft route could be another viable option, the longer free agency continues, the more bargains could be had. That means prove-it deals for veterans looking for another shot.

This obviously comes with risk attached. Poor performance and injuries are normally the baggage associated with these individuals, which is exactly the case with Isaiah Wynn when one takes everything into the equation.

When the offensive tackle is fit and firing on all cylinders, he is an adequate performer. This has been few and far between in recent years and is a big reason why the New England Patriots have yet to offer Wynn a new contract.

The former first-round pick out of Georgia featured in just nine games last season – seven of which he started – so durability would be a concern. However, if the Commanders convinced the edge protector to join on a one-year, prove-it deal, Wynn’s best production is far greater than anything Washington has right now.
