Commanders could sign Rashaan Evans

This one represents a gamble of sorts. But one that could be a cheaper alternative than players like Germaine Pratt, T.J. Edwards, or Bobby Wagner.

Rashaan Evans came into the NFL with the world at his feet following an outstanding college career at Alabama. The former first-round pick was solid if not spectacular throughout his stay with the Tennessee Titans, but the franchise opted to take their chances elsewhere, paving the way for a free-agent switch to the Atlanta Falcons in 2022.

Evans racked up 159 tackles for the Falcons last season, making some noteworthy plays along the way. This was matched by much-improved discipline against the run, which resulted in just 1.9 percent of tackles missed throughout the campaign.

One thing that holds Evans back from being truly dominant is coverage complications, which would be concerning. The player also fails to generate much interior pass-rush when opportunities arise, making him a one-dimensional asset until further notice.

This would be an experienced figure to put on a front seven that could take the NFL by storm next season. Daron Payne already has the franchise tag and should be around, so a productive middle linebacker might be the final piece of the puzzle.

If the Commanders don’t find the value, then going down the draft route is another option. But a player like Evans might be a nice pickup if the money suits all parties.
