Commanders could sign Nate Davis

Upon examining the list of interior offensive linemen who could hit free agency this month, Nate Davis is among the most intriguing. The former third-round selection was a valuable contributor for the Tennessee Titans and should have a robust market if his current employers opt to let him test the market.

That would appear foolish on Tennessee’s part considering how well Davis performed last season. The former Charlotte 49er gave up three sacks and conceded four penalties from 686 snaps on offense en route to a creditable 70.6 grade from Pro Football Focus, which represents a big step in the right direction during a contract year.

Davis excels on running downs. His brute force has been known to carve up significant holes and the athleticism at the player’s disposal makes him a force to be reckoned with at the second level for good measure.

This would be a significant upgrade on anything the Washington Commanders have right now. Davis is only going to get better entering his prime years, so this is one for the shortlist as Ron Rivera looks to find more consistency for Sam Howell or someone else under center.

According to Spotrac, Davis is expected to command an annual salary of $7.4 million on a three-year, $22.41 million deal. Couple this with a chance to become a prominent starter, and Washington could appeal to the player if there’s interest.
