Which free-agent interior offensive linemen could the Washington Commanders look to sign in 2023?

If the Washington Commanders want to stand any chance of mounting an NFC East title bid in 2023, then they must upgrade the offensive line. This became the team’s weak link time and time again last season, which simply has to change if Eric Bieniemy wants to hit the ground running with full control of an NFL offense for the first time.

One could make a case for four new starters across the protection before the regular season arrives. Something that might cost a pretty penny but would be no doubt welcome after some major misfires last time around.

While the Commanders will likely address this need early in the 2023 NFL Draft, adding a productive veteran or two in free agency could provide immediate assistance. This is needed in no uncertain terms considering how much is at stake for head coach Ron Rivera.

With this in mind, here are four free-agent interior offensive linemen the Commanders could sign when the legal tampering period begins.

Commanders could sign Oday Aboushi

Although he was restricted to rotational duties on the Los Angeles Rams in 2022, Oday Aboushi showed enough from limited reps to suggest a starting role could be within reach. Something the Washington Commanders could provide depending on other moves.

Aboushi wouldn’t be the flashiest signing. But he represents a relatively cheap option that can improve consistency with a smooth transition to Eric Bieniemy’s offense.
