Why not the Commanders?
This was obviously a big head-scratcher to many. Why did Eric Bieniemy leave behind such a coveted position with the Kansas City Chiefs to join the Washington Commanders?
Bieniemy had a different outlook.
Why not the Commanders?
The assistant head coach/offensive coordinator outlined the talent at Washington’s skill positions as a factor behind his decision. Something that provides a solid foundation from which to build providing the Commanders figure out how to improve specific areas such as the offensive line before Week 1 rolls around.
"“Look at all the talent. I’m excited about this opportunity. I have no doubt about what they’re building here. I have never backed down from a challenge.”"
Bieniemy is ready to, as he put it, chop the wood. Before then, it’s a chance for the coach to evaluate and have his own big say on which players come into his creative offensive system.
This was a good first impression from Bieniemy. He was articulate, and passionate, laying out clearly what he wants from himself and his players throughout the preparation period in readiness for a potentially profitable campaign.
And make no mistake, Bieniemy will leave no stone unturned in pursuit of achieving his objectives.
