Commanders could target Evan Engram

  • Tight End | Jacksonville Jaguars

One of the most extensive methods of generating yards within Eric Bieniemy’s creative offensive scheme is from the tight end position. Therefore, examining potential upgrades is of paramount importance where the Washington Commanders are concerned.

There’s a chance Logan Thomas flourishes under Bieniemy’s guidance. Others such as Cole Turner and John Bates could also progress their respective skill sets provided they impress early this offseason.

However, there is an abundance of talent emerging from the college ranks via the 2023 NFL Draft and veterans set to be available in free agency that cannot be overlooked. If a player like Evan Engram tests the market, Bieniemy could bang the table hard for one of the most consistent pass-catchers at the position anywhere in the league.

Engram has always been a consistent performer without quite hitting the heights of someone like Travis Kelce. He became a trusted target of Trevor Lawrence with the Jacksonville Jaguars last season, bringing in 73 receptions for 766 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

Jacksonville will work hard in pursuit of keeping Engram on the books. But this looks like a player that could be of significant use to Bieniemy and the Commanders in 2023.
