Carson Wentz could join the Buccaneers

The NFL breathed a collective sigh of relief when Tom Brady finally announced his retirement after a storied career. And this time, there’s (probably) no going back.

Brady can have no regrets. But his departure leaves the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a gaping hole at football’s most pivotal position that they must solve to ensure no real momentum is lost.

Only Kyle Trask – a former second-round pick out of Florida – is a legitimate candidate to replace Brady right now. Not exactly what Todd Bowles needs heading into a crucial second season at the helm.

While going bold could be an option via the trade market or the 2023 NFL Draft, examining Carson Wentz as a short-term option should also be discussed. Even though it would take a dramatic turnaround from the North Dakota State product to replicate what Brady brought to the table.

This is a shot in the dark if nothing else. The Buccaneers have tremendous weapons for any signal-caller and an offensive line that can provide stable protection despite various injury concerns in 2022.

The Washington Commanders couldn’t get a tune out of Wentz. But teams always look to acquire reclamation projects and that’s why joining the Buccaneers is a dark horse possibility.
