The Washington Commanders will lock horns with the NY Giants on Sunday afternoon. With Washington just a half-game behind New York in the standings, this rivalry game has massive implications in the NFC playoff race. Leading up to the game, all eyes were on Chase Young and whether he’d make his season debut.

Young was deemed questionable for the game as he works his way back from major knee surgery. Commanders fans have waited patiently for Young to be cleared, but some of that patience has worn thin in recent weeks with his debut continuously getting pushed back despite positive reviews in practice.

Well, the verdict is in, and fans won’t like it. Young has once again been ruled out. The silver lining, is Antonio Gibson, who was questionable coming in with a foot injury, is good to go, so Washington will have its duo of Gibson and Brian Robinson to wreak havoc against the Giants’ middling run defense.

Still, this Young news is a big letdown for fans, who continue to wait for the Defensive Rookie of the Year to make his 2022 debut.

Commanders Week 13 inactives include Chase Young

The following Commanders will join Chase Young the sidelines.

Benjamin St-Juste, CB

St-Juste will miss his second straight game after he twisted his ankle against the Texans in Week 11. Luckily for the Commanders, they haven’t played an elite passing offense in either of the two games he missed. It’ll be interesting to see who’s tasked with covering Darius Slayton, but Washington should get by without St-Juste. Look for rookie Christian Holmes to make his second straight start Sunday.

Dax Milne, WR/KR

Incredibly, Washington didn’t return a single punt with Milne absent in Week 12. Alex Erickson was active and would seemingly get the nod given the inexperience on the roster as far as returning punts. Antonio Gibson replaced Milne as the primary kick returner vs Atlanta, and that should continue against the G-Men.

Trai Turner, OL

It’s never ideal when a starting OL is ruled out, but Washington should be in good hands with Sam Cosmi filling in for Turner at right guard. Several NFL Draft experts believe Cosmi has a higher ceiling at right guard relative to right tackle, and Washington fans will get a glimpse into that sentiment on Sunday.

Chris Paul, OL

A seventh-round pick in the 2022 draft, Paul is still waiting to play an offensive snap as a rookie. Not a surprise he’s inactive again.

De’Jon Harris, LB

Harris has been active for a few games this season, but Washington will continue rolling with Jamin Davis, Jon Bostic and David Mayo at linebacker.
