The Washington Commanders dropped their first NFC East game of the season. That’s almost putting it lightly as the Philadelphia Eagles looked every bit the part of a title contender in Sunday’s 24-8 drubbing at FedEx Field.

The Commanders will get another crack at a division win this weekend, as they’ll travel to Arlington to lock horns with the Dallas Cowboys, who took care of business against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on Monday night.

The Commanders will get an extra day to prepare for the Cowboys, but that shouldn’t instill confidence in anybody. If you remember, the Eagles were coming off a Monday night win over Minnesota before traveling to Landover for Week 3.

If there’s anything we learned from Sunday, it’s that Washington’s coaching staff did nothing to take advantage of the extra day of preparation and rest. If we didn’t know any better, we’d say the Commanders came in on short rest.

Fresh off being a touchdown underdog at home, let’s see what Vegas thinks of Washington’s chances to upset the Cowboys on the road.

Commanders vs Cowboys Odds Week 4

The Cowboys open as a -3.5 favorite for Sunday’s rivalry game, according to FanDuel’s latest odds. Conversely, the Commanders have -114 odds to cover the spread, so bet $114 to win $100. In terms of the moneyline, Dallas is a heavy favorite at -178, while Washington’s odds come in at a tempting +150.

The over/under for Sunday is set at 42.5 points. That’s tied for the third-lowest total of any matchup for Week 4. The over has -104 odds (bet $104 to win $100) and you can currently get the under at -118 (bet $118 to win $100).

Commanders vs Cowboys Prediction Week 4

The Cowboys are without question a better matchup for the Commanders than Philadelphia. Dallas’ offense isn’t nearly as explosive as the Eagles’ and we like to think the secondary can better contend with CeeDee Lamb, Noah Brown and (potentially) Michael Gallup relative to AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith.

On the flip side, though, Dallas’ pass rush might be just as daunting as Philly’s. The Cowboys sacked Daniel Jones five times Monday night and it honestly could’ve reached double-digits if Jones wasn’t an elite athlete. While Carson Wentz is a solid athlete in his own right, he doesn’t have Jones’ maneuverability.

If the Cowboys collapse the pocket, Wentz will go down. The Commanders’ offensive line is all out of sorts right now and Dallas’ defensive line and pass rush are seemingly getting stronger with each week that passes. Will Wentz get the requisite time to pick apart Dallas’ beatable secondary? Or will we have a repeat of Week 3?

Maybe we’re not far enough removed from the Eagles loss, but we simply can’t ignore what we saw from Wentz and Washington’s OL on Sunday.

Cowboys 24, Commanders 21.
