Just like that, we’re on to Week 2. The Washington Commanders snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in their season-opener against Jacksonville. After taking a 14-3 lead into halftime, the Jaguars rattled off 19 consecutive points before Washington rallied with two fourth quarter touchdowns to win 28-22.

It was a fantastic start to the season for the Commanders. While fans will spend the next several days celebrating the victory, the team itself is already setting its sights on Week 2, when it’ll travel to the Motor City to play the Detroit Lions.

Ironically enough, Commanders fans had a friend in the Lions this past weekend, though Dan Campbell’s group was unable to fend off the Eagles, who squeaked out a 38-35 victory after Detroit staged a fourth-quarter comeback.

In other words, the Lions shouldn’t be taken lightly. Let’s check out the early betting odds for Sunday’s clash at Ford Field, shall we?

Commanders vs Lions Odds Week 2

As of this writing, FanDuel’s odds have the Commanders as 1.5-point underdogs against the spread. They have -110 odds to cover. On the moneyline, the Commanders have juicy +108 odds to win outright.

Conversely, the Lions are favored -130 on the moneyline.

The over/under for Sunday is set at a whopping 48.8 points, which isn’t surprising given how Washington and Detroit’s offenses (and defenses) fared in Week 1. Both the over and under have -110 odds, so bet $110 to win $100.

Commanders vs Lions Prediction Week 2

The Lions gave the Eagles a real fight in Week 1. The game got out of hand in the second half when Philadelphia scored 17 unanswered points to open up a 38-21 lead. As we noted earlier, Detroit scored consecutive touchdowns to make things 38-35 late in the fourth quarter, but it was ultimately for naught.

Long story short, these aren’t the same old Lions. Their offense has legitimate firepower with D’Andre Swift, Amon-Ra St. Brown, TJ Hockenson, DJ Chark and Jamaal Williams. Not the sexiest names, but they put up 35 points against an Eagles defense that’s expected to be one of the best in the league.

This should be another nail-biter for the Commanders.

It’s a rematch against the former No. 1 and 2 overall picks of the 2016 draft. While a capable quarterback, Jared Goff crumbles under pressure and is typically good for at least one turnover every week. The same can be said for Wentz, but we’ll take our chances with the 29-year-old due to his superior arm talent.

We expect the Commanders to win outright in a 31-27 barnburner, meaning they’ll cover the spread and help the over hit fairly easily.
