2. Casey Toohill

It helps Toohill that Chase Young won’t be around at training camp as he, like Logan Thomas, continues to work his way back from ACL surgery. With that said, though, Toohill is squarely on the roster bubble at the start of camp.

While 2021 was Toohill’s most productive season to date — he entered the NFL in 2020 — he managed just one sack, one tackle for loss and six quarterback hits in 16 games (six starts). One sack over 361 defensive snaps isn’t going to get it done, so Toney could find himself on the outside looking in if one of Shaka Toney or William Bradley-King ball out over the course of the next three weeks.

The Commanders will likely carry four edge rushers. With Young, Montez Sweat, James Smith-Williams and Efe Obada (maybe) all surefire bets to make the 53-man roster, Toohill has some work to do in Ashburn this month.
