Running Back

Rostered: (4) Antonio Gibson, J.D. McKissic, Peyton Barber, Jaret Patterson

If Washington were to keep four running backs on the final roster, these are the four that may bring the most upside. Gibson will be the primary starter given no setbacks with his turf toe injury.

A slimmed-down Peyton Barber likely repeats his role as the goal-line and short-yardage back, while J.D. McKissic will continue to serve as a third-down back and matchup nightmare for opposing linebackers.

Lamar Miller and Jaret Patterson fight it out for the extra spot, but the undrafted Patterson wins out. Patterson proves to be a more effective receiving back which is favored by both Ron Rivera and Scott Turner. They both see the 5-foot-8 back as their version of Darren Sproles.
