2. Win the turnover battle

The Washington Football Team ranks 29th in the NFL in total turnovers with 25. The Eagles rank 30th with 26. Only the 49ers and Broncos are turning the ball over more than the Eagles and Washington.

It is very cliche, but with a stat this telling, the team who commits the least amount of turnovers sets themselves up well to win. The Eagles have had a problem at their quarterback position with turnovers all year long. Carson Wentz was benched for being very turnover prone.

Jalen Hurts has not been much better himself. He is already second in the NFL in fumbles with six. He is fresh off a three-turnover performance against the Cowboys. Like Carson Wentz, he too often wants to play hero-ball and it proves costly at times.

With a defensive line in Washington’s that is red hot as of late, chances are some turnovers from Hurts are likely.

Here is the challenge to Alex Smith, who appears to be ready to start at quarterback for Washington: Protect the ball. Do not put your defense in bad situations.

Win the turnover battle. Who won the turnover battle in Week 1? Washington did. And Washington won.
