No. 2 – OG Brandon Scherff

Brandon Scherff has been a core Washington Football Team player for several years now and he is due to receive a hefty pay increase during the upcoming offseason.

During a recent injury, the team struggled mightily along the offensive line and the losses continued to mount.  When he returned, the line was improved and Washington had a dramatic reversal of fortunes.  No, it is not only because of his return, but the team was much better along the line when Scherff was able to be back in the lineup.

The former Iowa Hawkeye has been one of the elite guards in the NFL since entering the league as the fifth overall selection in the 2015 draft.  He has been a dominant force since day one, but there are a couple of concerns going forward.  First, will he sign a new contract with Washington in a few months or move on to another team?  Second, Scherff’s injuries over the last three seasons have hurt him and the team, including this season.

Regardless of the injuries, and they are a concern, Brandon Scherff is a core team member and he is very deserving of a new contract.  Yes, it will be expensive for now, but look very affordable in a couple of years.
