Washington Football Team: Potential trade suitors for QB Dwayne Haskins
Indianapolis Colts
The Colts are another team with a veteran quarterback that could consider adding Haskins as a successor.
Philip Rivers has been fine for the Colts this year, but he isn’t the same player he once was. His arm strength is deteriorating and he is still having some trouble with interceptions. He has six on the season compared to seven passing touchdowns.
Basically, Rivers’ accuracy and decision making are declining a bit because he thinks his arm can still make some of the plays he did when he was younger. That hasn’t impacted the Colts too much yet, as they’re a team built to win with their running game and defense, but it could hurt them down the line. And either way, they need some upside and a future behind the 38-year-old Rivers.

The Colts do have Jacoby Brissett and Jacob Eason in the fold behind Philip Rivers, but if neither is impressing enough, the Colts could be interested in a player like Haskins. It’s also worth noting that along with Rivers, Brissett is a free agent after the season. If neither is re-signed, or if Rivers retires and Brissett walks, the Colts will need competition for Eason and depth.
If the Colts are planning ahead and want to take a chance on a potential quarterback of the future at a low cost, Haskins could be worth a shot. The Colts don’t have a ton of needs, so they can afford to acquire Haskins. The question is just about whether or not they’d want to.
Perhaps Haskins could find success under Frank Reich behind a better offensive line. That’s not a guarantee, but if the Colts like his skill set and upside enough, that might be enough for them to add Haskins and see what he can do.
Of course, rolling with four quarterbacks on the roster wouldn’t be ideal, so the Colts are probably less of an option than the Patriots or Steelers at this point. But still, they shouldn’t be counted out.
