Poised to make a run to win the NFC East, the Washington Football Team should look to upgrade their roster at the NFL trade deadline.

While the 2020 NFL season has been a roller coaster ride for the Washington Football Team, they still find themselves right in the thick of things at the NFL’s trade deadline.

Despite a Week 4 quarterback change, injuries at skill positions, and a couple of captains going down, Ron Rivera is looking to capitalize on such a weak NFC East division. There’s no better way to capitalize on a weak division and improve your roster quickly than taking advantage of what’s available at the NFL trade deadline on November 3rd.

You’ve seen names thrown all across the board when it comes to trade rumors. Guys like Michael Thomas and Stephon Gilmore, to older veterans looking for a new home like J.J. Watt and A.J. Green.

Washington has significant leverage at the deadline as well; they are one of the teams that have loads of cap space going into the 2021 offseason, as well as a full slate of draft picks for the 2021 NFL Draft.

They can go a plethora of ways at the deadline. They can trade for younger assets that have multiple years left on their contracts, or they can look to add savvy veteran players who are on expiring contracts that will cost them Day 3 draft picks.

The possibilities are endless, but there’s an outline Washington and their front office should follow. Washington must look to improve what’s in front of Kyle Allen, both the wide receiver and tight end rooms, as well as a spot on the offensive line.

Not only would that be most beneficial and one of the easiest ways to push them over the top of Philadelphia in the NFC East race, but it would finally give the Washington offense a dynamic aspect that it’s severely lacking.

That isn’t the only way they can go through; safety play, most notably in coverage, for Washington has been abysmal. Buffing up their back four will pay huge dividends as we progress through the rest of the year.

Nonetheless, the Washington Football Team holds the keys here at the NFL trade deadline and there are moves to be made and upgrades to look out for.
