Defensive Tackles

Daron Payne is going to bring the pain in 2020 and he will be the primary anchor of a very formidable defensive tackle rotation.  Look for this member of the “Alabama Gang” to have his best season thus far.

Prediction for Payne:  Six sacks, 58 tackles, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, four passes deflected

Jonathan Allen is one of the undisputed leaders of the defense and the entire team.  The WFT picked up his fifth-year option earlier this offseason, so he is going to stay around quite a while longer.  Look for Allen to have another stellar season.

Prediction for Allen:  Six sacks, 63 tackles, two fumble recoveries, three passes deflected, one interception returned for 19 yards

Matt Ioannidis has actually improved statistically each season and he is poised to produce his best season yet in year five with the Burgundy and Gold.

Prediction for Ioannidis: Nine sacks, 66 tackles, two forced fumbles, one tackle for a safety

Tim Settle has provided solid depth on the defensive line in his first two seasons and is slated to continue that role in 2020.  Look for the former Virginia Tech Hokie to have his best year thus far.

Prediction for Settle:  Three sacks, 27 tackles, two passes deflected
