Taking advantage of the offseason

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic displacing a normal offseason, Sims didn’t let his offseason go to waste. Throughout the offseason, he had workouts with fellow second-year players Dwayne Haskins, Terry McLaurin and Kelvin Harmon. These workouts will prove crucial in strengthening the chemistry between Sims and the expected starter at quarterback, Dwayne Haskins.

In an interview with the Washington Football Talk Podcast, Sims also said he had stayed home in Texas to work with a personal trainer. These workouts had a focus on continuing to improve his route running and his hands. He said himself he believes that his route running has significantly improved, a trait he can use to his advantage.

Last season, Sims was a shifty, quick twitch receiver that had some skills that needed refining. His hands were sometimes suspect. His route running was something that seemed to be in a good place. If he is even more improved at this in 2020, with the hopeful improvement in his hands, Sims will be open a lot this year. A quick wide receiver with solid technique is a recipe for success.

Also, Sims has the advantage of having a full NFL season under his belt. He understands better the level of competition he will see and how he can prepare.

With a solid offseason and a year of experience, Sims is equipped with how to attack an NFL defense.
