Special Teams (3)

Dustin Hopkins, Tress Way, Nick Sundberg

There’s no competition for any of the special teams spots, so I won’t bore you too much here. This is what I had to say about the veteran trio in my last roster projection.

"Way is one of the best punters in the NFL and was named to the All-Pro second team last season for his excellence. Overall, he averaged 49.6 yards per punt and downed 30 punts inside the 20 with just four touchbacks. He should continue to perform well in 2020. Hopkins went 25 of 30 on field goals and missed just one of his 22 extra-point attempts. He has made at least 81 percent of his field goals in each of his NFL seasons and has improved his accuracy from 50+ in recent years (6 for 8 from that range). He’s a rock-solid kicker and at just 29, he still has plenty of good years left in the tank. Finally, Sundberg is the longest-tenured Redskin and he has been steady over the years, when healthy. The team may need to find a replacement in the not-so-distant future, but for now, Sundberg can still get the job done."

We’ll see if anything changes but for now, these three should stay in their positions at least for the 2020 season.
