The Washington Football Team’s linebacker corps is unsettled, but they have some nice pieces in the group.

While the Washington Football Team’s front line of their defense is one of the strongest in the game, the perception of their stop unit changes when discussing the back seven. Outside of a couple of players in the secondary, few if any starters are set in stone ahead of the 2020 season.

And a big part of that is the squad’s uncertainty at linebacker.

Washington has a lot of linebackers on their roster. Some are well-known household names. Others are young, up-and-coming players with upside. And some are veterans role players that could emerge if given a chance to prove themselves.

On paper, Washington’s linebacker group doesn’t look too strong. But it isn’t the worst group they have on the team. Here’s a look at how the highly-competitive unit could shape out with 2020 training camp now underway.

Note: Ryan Anderson was highlighted as an edge rusher in an earlier piece by Ian Cummings. Anderson figures to play some SAM linebacker as well, but for more on his outlook in Washington’s defense, click here.
