Cody Latimer was placed on the Commissioner’s/Exempt List on Monday. Here are some receivers the team could consider adding to replace him.

The Washington Football Team has some trouble in their receiving corps. It started when Emanuel Hall tore his Achilles during offseason training. The unheralded player was a sleeper candidate to make the roster, but now, he is no longer with the team.

Then, Kelvin Harmon suffered a torn ACL while preparing for the 2020 season. Harmon, a projected starter across from Terry McLaurin, will miss the upcoming campaign and further whittled down an already thin Washington receiving corps.

And now, the receiver room is even shallower in the wake of Cody Latimer’s placement on the Commissioner’s/Exempt List.

Latimer was arrested during the offseason on five charges including second-degree assault. Latimer remained with Washington as the facts of the case came out. But now, the NFL has decided to step in and the seven-year veteran will be away from the club as long as the league’s investigation into his charges is ongoing.

Without the seventh-year veteran onboard, Washington is lacking a veteran presence. All of their pass catchers have three or fewer years of NFL experience. As such, they could try to add some experience to the room or just stock up on some proven depth to make sure they don’t get too thin at the position.

The options available in free agency are either unenticing or come with concerns. The trade market offers more hope, but requires willing sellers. As for the internal options, there are some with potential but almost all of the roster candidates have little to no NFL experience.

Nonetheless, Washington should be interested in adding to their roster in the wake of Latimer’s placement. And here’s a look at some of the players they could attempt to add to replace him.
