Ross Pierschbacher

Experience: 2nd season

Draft Status: 2019 fifth-round pick, 153rd overall

2019 Stats: Five games, zero starts

2020 Outlook: Ross Pierschbacher entered the NFL as a prospect with no overwhelming traits, despite his pedigree as an Alabama product. His first NFL season reflected that. Despite holes on the interior, Pierschbacher only played in five games, and didn’t play any offensive snaps, instead logging just 12 total special teams snaps. Now, with Keith Ismael joining the fold, Pierschbacher’s outlook is further clouded.

Expected Role: Pierschbacher was slated to be the backup center before the NFL Draft, but now, that job will likely fall to Keith Ismael, relegating Pierschbacher to a deeper spot in the lineup. Pierschbacher now falls to the security tier, where the value rests only in the quantity of offensive linemen present.

Status: Pierschbacher, just one year into his NFL career, is already on the roster bubble, and he’s in danger of being cut loose by the new Washington football regime. The new coaching staff has no ties to Pierschbacher, and they actively sought to improve the center position, even with him there. Pierschbacher isn’t as versatile as other players on the interior, which could ultimately spell doom for his hopes of making the roster.
