NFL training camp is tentatively scheduled to begin on July 28. Our Redskins mailbag is ready to handle any questions you have about position battles, training camp, and much more.

As we approach the midpoint of July, NFL training camp is right around the corner. Or at least it should be. At this point, it’s hard to know if everything will start on time because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the NFL and NFLPA are working toward figuring out return-to-play protocols and hopefully will have them ironed out in the coming weeks.

Either way, a return to the field should occur soon for the Washington Redskins, and that will be a sight for sore eyes. The Redskins are coming off a truly forgettable 3-13 season but completely overhauled their team during the 2020 offseason.

Bruce Allen is out. Kyle Smith is in. Jay Gruden’s coaching staff is out. Ron Rivera’s staff is in. And many new players are on the squad as well from the team’s eight draft picks, four undrafted free agent signings, and the countless short-term free-agent deals the team agreed to during the 2020 offseason.

Once training camp begins, Redskins fans will get their first taste of action from these new arrivals. They’ll get a chance to watch the competition that Rivera has touted throughout the offseason and there will be more clarity on what is looking like an uncertain roster battle.

The ‘Skins roster bubble is larger this year than it has been in years past. The reason for that is simple. Rivera’s staff is new in town and with a new regime comes a lot of changes. Rivera and Co. will look to find the 53 best competitors to build a team. They won’t be afraid to cut bait with any recent draft picks for fear of making themselves look bad. They don’t have to worry about that. It’s a fresh start for the team.

At camp, there will be plenty of position battles to watch, roster battles to keep an eye on, and rookies who will be getting their first taste of the NFL. But before that comes along, we want to hear from you.

What questions do you have about the Redskins team? Are there any roster or position battles you’re curious about? What about the coaching staff? Let us know in the comments section below and we’ll answer them in our Riggo’s Rag Redskins mailbag!
