In the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Redskins surprised everyone, and picked an unexpected player at No. 66.

You probably weren’t the only one who jumped when the announcer said “running back” to start his revealing of the Washington Redskins selection at the top of Round 3. Running back was considered a position of uncertainty for the burgundy and gold, but there seemed to be enough potential there to warrant passing over the position in the NFL Draft.

The context dictated that there was more that met the eye to Washington’s third-round pick, and upon further examination, that proved to be the case. Yes, Memphis’ Antonio Gibson was announced as a running back. But the kind of versatility he brings is much more complex than positional bounds can describe.

Gibson’s greatest moments involve him displaying sky-high offensive upside, but with just 71 collegiate touches to his name, he’ll have to prove he can sustain a higher volume at the NFL level. Gibson is one of the more intriguing Redskins picks in the 2020 NFL Draft. What does he bring to the table, from a skills perspective? Should he be working more often with the running backs, or the wide receivers, and what kind of production should ultimately be expected from him in 2020?

These, among others, are questions that Jacob Camenker and I sought to answer in the latest edition of the Riggo’s Rag Podcast! Shortly before this podcast, we recorded our discussion on Washington Redskins first-round selection Chase Young. Now, we’ll move on to Day 2, and talk about the kind of potential that Antonio Gibson brings to the NFL stage.

Contained in this podcast, you’ll find both statistical and film analysis of Gibson’s traits, his athletic numbers, how he might fit into the Redskins’ offense, and so much more. You’ll also hear Jacob’s new nickname for Gibson, and you can decide for yourself if it’s good enough to stick (Spoiler alert: It is not). To listen, simply click the play button below!
