3. The Redskins are open to options at No. 2 but seem to be favoring Chase Young

Part of the Redskins plan obviously involves selecting someone with the No. 2 overall pick. Once again, Smith didn’t tip his hand in his press conference and said that the team was looking at all options with the pick.

Recently, it has been reported that the ‘Skins are likely to stay put at No. 2 and draft Chase Young. But the fact that Smith didn’t rule out a trade down is good for business, as it will open up the opportunity to trade down if they get blown away by an offer.

That said, Smith did have some praise for Young during his press conference and you can see it below courtesy of Kyle Stackpole.

Hearing that, it sounds like the staff is favoring Young. We’ll see if anything changes in the lead-up to the draft but either way, it’s nice to see that the team is both keeping options open while targeting the draft’s most talented player.

And hey, maybe they’ll find a way to get the Detroit Lions to trade up for Tua if the Lions decide they want a young quarterback. If that happens, the Redskins could trade down to No. 3, recoup a second-round pick, and still land Chase Young.
