2. CB Quinton Dunbar

For much of the season, Quinton Dunbar has been one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. But not much has been said about it because of the defensive unit he plays on.

There’s no doubt that the Redskins defense has been a disappointment this season. What looked like a potential top-10 defense on paper has been a bottom-10 unit in practice. Part of it stems from poor coaching. Part of it from the complete regression of Josh Norman and some serious communication issues in the back-seven.

That said, Dunbar has been one of the team’s best overall players. And he certainly qualifies as the best and most consistent player on the defensive side of the ball.

Dunbar has made several key defensive plays — including the interception that helped the ‘Skins to earn a win over the Lions in Week 12 — this season and has a career-high four picks. Beyond that, he has provided great coverage week in and week out even as the rest of the secondary has endured its issues.

Simply put, Dunbar has been rock solid. He has exceeded any and all expectations that the team had for him when they converted him from receiver to cornerback. Dunbar is among the best in the league at his position. And while he may be less heralded than his peers, he deserves a chance to go to the Pro Bowl.
