3. Redskins must have productive play from Case Keenum

After getting named interim coach, Bill Callahan went back to Case Keenum as his starter. Some fans who were hoping a switch to Dwyane Haskins was in the works as Miami would be the perfect opponent for him to get his first start against. But Keenum ended up being the choice.

After two modest games to start the season in which Keenum protected the football and threw five touchdowns along the way, he had a terrible Monday night before eventually getting benched against the Giants. Turnovers were his undoing, as he committed five against the Bears and threw another interception against New York as the offense stagnated.

Keenum is not going to win the game against Miami, but he can lose it with another poor outing. He must play efficient football against the Dolphins’ defense and not try to do too much. This means playing within the offense, getting the ball out quickly, and not turning the ball over.

The ‘Skins figure to lean heavily on the ground game and Miami only has two takeaways on the season. If Keenum goes back to his turnover plagued ways and the Redskins’ offense sputters, Washington will likely drop to 0-6.
