2. WR Terry McLaurin

Terry McLaurin has been a staple of this list and this week is no different. The circumstances, however, are.

McLaurin missed last week’s matchup with the Giants as he dealt with a hamstring injury. The team was hopeful that he would play on Sunday, but in true Redskins fashion, he wasn’t able to. Still, it doesn’t seem that McLaurin is far off from playing and after logging a limited practice on Wednesday, he could be on track to play this week.

Of course, hamstring injuries and other soft tissue maladies can linger, so McLaurin’s status will need to be watched. That’s one of the reasons he makes this list; even if he does play, his injury will need to be monitored.

The other main reason to watch this? McLaurin figures to get a heck of a test from the Patriots secondary. Stephon Gilmore is the best cornerback in the league while Jason McCourty, JC Jackson, Devin McCourty, and Patrick Chung round out an elite secondary. And their depth is pretty solid, too.

If McLaurin plays and can win some battles against Gilmore or either of the McCourty twins, that would give the team even more hope that he is turning into a true No. 1 receiver at the NFL level. This is the biggest test he’ll face all season so McLaurin will certainly be a top player to watch (again, provided that he can get on the field).
