The Redskins offensive line was the subject of harsh scrutiny after the team’s 30-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns in the preseason debut. But does the full tape demand the same backlash?

In real time, it was certainly disappointing to see the Washington Redskins offensive line out of sync. None of the starters were playing, but the depth of the offensive line was revealed as a major concern, as the Redskins backups were bullied by the Browns talented defensive front.

There is reason for concern; the issue of the Redskins offensive line depth is a pressing predicament, and one that will need to be answered eventually. But in the overwhelmingly negative response to the line’s performance, it’s possible that more positive details may have been lost in the noise. All is not lost on the line, and our latest guest on the Riggo’s Rag Podcast told us why.

On the latest episode of the Riggo’s Rag Podcast, we brought on offensive line expert and Redskins Capital Connection contributor Robbie Duncan. Duncan often breaks down games on Twitter after re-watching and focusing specifically on the offensive line, and his insight is very educational.

Often, when watching the games, spectators gravitate to the reps that stand out. For offensive linemen, those reps are often negative. Watching back doesn’t change the fact that those negative reps are there, but without watching back and honing one’s focus, important footnotes can go unnoticed, and it can be the difference between deeming a player a lost cause, and deeming a player as an asset worth developing.

In this podcast, Duncan helped us bridge the gap, and he provided sobering thoughts on Ereck Flowers and Timon Parris, going into excellent detail on what each lineman does well, and where they can improve. He also dwelled on Geron Christian, and a crucial fundamental flaw that Chrisitan needs to kick, and time was spent on starting-left-tackle-to-be Donald Penn as well. Duncan brings eye-opening dialogue on the state of the Redskins offensive line, and he allows one to find middle ground when discussing the team’s offensive line situation.
