The Redskins have the day off today. But we don’t.

Granted, we weren’t outside running routes in the sweltering heat with pads on our shoulders. And we weren’t lined up in the trenches, pushing and shoving with 250 to 300-pound men. The Washington Redskins were. So perhaps, it’s a break well-deserved.

As well-deserved as it might be, however, the break ends tomorrow. The Redskins will have a couple more days off over the course of the preseason, but once the regular season hits, it’ll be a grind for seventeen weeks. No exceptions.

The Redskins know this well; they’ve been the victim of the grind too many times. Wear and tear can dilute a roster’s talent, and injuries can sideline key players and end a team’s season entirely. The Redskins hope to avoid both those fates in 2019, but it isn’t entirely up to them.

Ever since the Redskins schedule was released, it’s been deemed a relatively tough one, even though the strength of schedule from last year pegs their slate as ‘easy’. Washington will be tasked with withstanding some brutal stretches. Before training camp, success was considered an impossibility. Now, we’ve seen glimpses of this team’s potential. But has anything changed yet?

Perhaps, now is too early to say. But we still fired up the Riggo’s Rag Podcast to recap the action, and discuss the Redskins schedule in more detail. This time around, Jacob and I were joined by Riggo’s Rag‘s newest contributor, Russell Shavatt. The three of us talked about tough stretches on Washington’s schedule, the purpose of the 2019 season with Dwayne Haskins and a building young core, potential turning points, and more!
