Redskins training camp is officially underway for the 2019 season, and the excitement has taken on new heights.

The wait ahead of Washington Redskins training camp was a long one, and the anticipation only built upon itself as the offseason progressed, first in winter, then in spring.

First, there was free agency, where the Redskins made former Giants safety Landon Collins the then-highest-paid safety in the NFL. Then there was the 2019 NFL Draft, where Washington added a new wave of talent, headlined by Dwayne Haskins, Montez Sweat, and others.

After that, it was three months of silence. Three months of nothing, with only blips in-between. But now, training camp is here, and football is unofficially, but almost officially, back.

The first training camp session was yesterday for the Washington Redskins, and most training camp sessions, including the one yesterday, are open to the public. Thus, droves of fans regularly line themselves on the practice field and watch, as the Redskins players practice on the grass ahead. It’s a unique opportunity, to see these larger-than-life icons in person, and it’s an experience that’s never truly matched in the sport of football.

It’s also an experience that a couple of our contributors had yesterday, and shared with us on the Riggo’s Rag Podcast. Our own contributors Matt Hines and Conor Forrest were among the fans who got a close-up look at the first training camp session of the summer for the Washington Redskins, and at the conclusion of the event, they hopped on the podcast to provide their fresh thoughts on what they saw. Contained within is an unfiltered conversation on the first day of Redskins training camp; who stood out, who you should watch moving forward, and more!
