The Redskins have avoided the injury bug for the most part, since losing Reuben Foster (Knock on wood). But earlier today, they suffered a scare, at the very least.

In each facet of the 2019 offseason, the Washington Redskins worked to supplement their roster with depth. Time will tell how well they fared in different areas, and their merry-go-round at offensive tackle is already an indictment of how they’ve prepared at that position.

That said, the initial profiles of most of their 2019 NFL Draft picks proved to be very promising, and even their late-round picks possessed valuable qualities in reserve players. Cole Holcomb has his athleticism and his upside as a three-down linebacker. Ross Pierschbacher has his plentiful experience on the interior. Kelvin Harmon has his contested catch ability. Jimmy Moreland has his closing speed and ball skills. And Jordan Brailford, the team’s last pick, has his combination of burst and size.

Brailford gets perhaps the least attention of the Redskins 2019 picks, but he has a quiet kind of upside, and he’d been showing flashes of it at camp. Brailford’s coming out part, however, could end up being put on hold. Per reports, Brailford suffered an apparent injury at camp today. In a video provided by sports anchor Chip Brierre, Brailford was seen on his knees, in agony, being attended to by trainers.

Brierre, in a caption above the video, said that Brailford “looked to make a bad plant on his foot” during individual drills with coaches. Brierre then said that Brailford spent about two minutes on the field, before trainers helped escort him to the medical tent.

Players have commonly tweaked extremities this offseason at camp, but the circumstances of this injury are particularly alarming. It was a non-contact leg injury that ended Reuben Foster’s season in May, when he took a bad step during warm-ups. Perhaps Brailford might have suffered a similar fate. If so, it’s a tough blow for the Oklahoma State product, who was activated off of the PUP list just days ago.

For now, however, nothing is definite. Per John Keim of ESPN, Brailford did not return during team work later in the day. Stick with us here at Riggo’s Rag, as we will provide you with updates when they are available.
