The Redskins weren’t done with their Day 2 night just yet. But now, all of a sudden, they are.

The Washington Redskins started the 2019 NFL Draft on a high note on Day 1. First, they waited patiently for Dwayne Haskins to fall to them at No. 15, and then they traded back into Round 1 to add Mississippi State edge rusher Montez Sweat, cementing two starting spots on Day 1.

On Day 2, the Redskins added a familiar weapon in the receiving core for Dwayne Haskins, nabbing versatile wide receiver Terry McLaurin, whose speed figures to serve the Redskins offense well.

The Redskins drafted McLaurin at pick No. 76, and at the time, they still had another third-round pick: Pick No. 96. Shortly before making that pick, however, they instead traded it to Buffalo, in exchange for both of the Bills’ fourth-round picks, per Field Yates of ESPN. The Bills used Washington’s second third-round pick to select Ole Miss tight end Dawson Knox, while the Redskins add two more picks to their Day 3 slate, now possessing a total of seven Day 3 picks.

The two picks acquired by the Redskins from the Buffalo Bills sit at No. 112 (No. 9 in the fourth round), and No. 131 (No. 29 in the fourth-round), so viewers won’t have to wait too long tomorrow to see the Redskins make their newest pick. The Redskins had originally lost their only fourth-rounder after trading for Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. Now, they get back two.

The move to trade back, at this point, is a savvy one for the Redskins, who could use more mid-round picks to acquire depth. And at this point, as the second day of the 2019 NFL Draft comes to a close, there’s still plenty of sleeper talent left on the board to capitalize on. The Redskins could grab a higher-tier talent that trickles down to Day 3, and with seven more picks, they’ll have more than enough opportunities to add Day 3 gems.
