Round 5, Pick 35

Will Pick: TE Foster Moreau, LSU

Moreau would be a nice pickup late in the fifth round. He’s a very good blocker, coming from LSU’s run-heavy offense, but he showed off enough athletic upside to be a functional receiver at the next level. He’ll need some refinement as a route runner, but imagining him as a No. 2 tight end in the mold of Logan Paulsen is very realistic.

Moreau could compete for a depth role with Jeremy Sprinkle and could eventually take over as a top-two tight end once Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis hit free agency.

Should Pick: OT William Sweet, North Carolina

With Ty Nsekhe gone, Washington has to add a solid developmental tackle to bring along as the fourth tackle on the roster. Sweet has a lot of upside, but he needs to greatly improve his technique to be a success at the next level. Late in the fifth round, Sweet could be a nice pickup who could develop into a quality swing player at the very least.

Dark Horse: RB Bryce Love, Stanford

The Redskins have no need at the running back position, but if Love is on the board here, they should strongly consider him. Love has the potential to be a good starter at the NFL level and would be a nice long-term complement to Derrius Guice. They may not ultimately do it, but they should at least consider Love if he’s on the board this late.
