Round 5, Pick 15

Will Pick and Should Pick: S Amani Hooker, Iowa

I’m a fan of Amani Hooker, but he isn’t getting talked about enough. He’s a versatile safety that should be able to play a lot of different roles in the secondary.

Hooker had 121 tackles and six interceptions over the course of the past two seasons. He has nice versatility, as he can play well against both the run and the pass, and he could pay in some packages as a linebacker. That should help to earn him some fans given the rising importance of versatility, especially on the defensive side in the NFL.

Hooker may go in the fourth round, so getting him here was a good value. That’s what makes him the obvious pick and the right one for the ‘Skins.

Dark Horse: EDGE Maxx Crosby, Eastern Michigan

If the ‘Skins still need an edge player at this juncture, they could target a guy like Crosby here. However, this is just about what Crosby’s floor would be, and he will probably be selected in the fourth round, if not, earlier. So, Crosby is a dark horse here in the sense that he could possibly slip and if he does, the team should have an interest.
