Round 3, Pick 32

Will Pick: OL Nate Davis, Charlotte

Washington has shown an interest in Davis this offseason, and they recently visited with him at their facility. Davis is a strong, stout, but somewhat small (6-3) option for the left guard position. He played tackle in college, but his best spot will be on the interior. He will provide competition for Ereck Flowers and it seems that the team will have interest in him at this juncture.

Should Pick: WR Emanuel Hall, Missouri

As much as the Redskins have a need at the guard position, if Emanuel Hall is somehow on the board, as he was in this simulation, the team should take him. Hall has excellent upside and is one of the best vertical threat receivers in this draft. He averaged over 20.8 yards per catch in college and could be a No. 1 receiver at the next level thanks to his 6-2 frame.

The only concerns with Hall come from his inability to stay healthy (he only played in 10 games once during his four years at Missouri). Still, imagining him and Butler playing in Washington’s new passing attack would be scary.

And, of course, Hall wouldn’t be in consideration here if the ‘Skins did add Deebo Samuel in Round 2. They may draft three receivers, but it’s unlikely they would take all of them on Day 3.

Dark Horse: QB Brett Rypien, Boise State

In the event that the Redskins don’t draft a quarterback in the first two rounds or trade for Josh Rosen, they may target one late in the third round. We’ve seen solid game managers with high floors go in this range before, and that perfectly describes Rypien.

Rypien has a solid arm, great accuracy, and has experience in the Boise State offense. He has ties to the Redskins as the nephew of Mark Rypien, so that could help the team settle on him if they go for a mid-round option. He is very similar to Colt McCoy but has more long-term upside at this point. So, adding Rypien here can’t be discounted and could be a smart move if they don’t get a better-regarded quarterback.
