NFL Mock Draft 6.0: Dueling GM mock sees Redskins land EDGE help
Ian: The Tennessee Titans did add Rodger Saffold in free agency, but the veteran’s long-term time table as a starter is uncertain. He’s well over 30 years old, and sooner rather than later, he’ll no longer be a viable starter for the Titans at guard.
Thus, the Titans can afford to double down on their investment in the offensive line, and add one of the top talents in the 2019 NFL Draft in Cody Ford.
Ford was one of the best offensive tackles in college football last year, and some would prefer he stay at tackle at the next level. That said, he has the athleticism, relentlessness, and fleet-footedness to be a mauler wherever he goes.
For the Titans, Ford likely projects as a guard, once Saffold’s stint is over, but if the need for a tackle ever arises, they’ll be happy to know that Ford can be a great player there as well.
