It’s time, once again, for the Riggo’s Rag Podcast, where we cover all the latest developments with the Washington Redskins!

Over the second half of the 2018 season, and now well into the 2019 offseason, the Washington Redskins have given us plenty to talk about. It started with the loss of Alex Smith, the signing of Reuben Foster, and the swift collapse of what looked to be a playoff run. Now, Washington is in the midst of coaching staff turmoil. We know it’s happening. But it’s happening in secret.

The Redskins have closed themselves off from the media, or so it seems, and that has led to a mess of coaching staff confusion. Jay Gruden, heading into his sixth season as the Redskins head coach, is reportedly safe, but no one else on staff can say the same.

Fans are fed up with the way things are being done in Ashburn, and while the Redskins aren’t the only team to suffer from the adverse effects of the rumor mill, it has become a trend under Dan Snyder, to mismanage decisions such as these, and compound that mismanagement with inadequate presentation. It’s a cycle that has worn the fan base to its core, and it’s hard to say what might happen next.

In this edition of the Riggo’s Rag Podcast, we were joined by Riggo’s Rag contributor Ken Johannesen, who gave his take on the strange happenings in Washington D.C. as of late. The problem, he says, is as simple as it is complex; there’s one person that all turmoil can be traced to.

It wasn’t all doom and gloom, however; we also spoke a little bit on the progression of younger players, and at the end, Johannessen provided us with a draft preview, as well as an endorsement for an unorthodox, but exciting selection for the Redskins with the No. 15 overall pick. How the Redskins emerge from this disorienting saga will be on everyone’s mind in the coming days, but clarity might not be found for some time, and when it is found, it might not be so forgiving. By the end, respected coaches like Jim Tomsula and Bill Callahan could be gone, and Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen could be back to square one, a familiar place for them over the past decade.

Square one, however, comes with its perks. Be sure to stick with us throughout the course of the offseason, as we’ll keep you updated with a podcast every other week, time willing. In the coming months, we’ll delve into free agency possibilities, more draft content, and so much more! Thanks, as always, for listening!
