The Redskins have stumbled into must-win territory once again; with a win later today, they can maintain relevance for at least one more week.

The Washington Redskins season took a sharp turn for the worst after the team’s 6-3 start. After Alex Smith’s season-ending injury, the offense lost its efficiency, and the defense lost its edge, with a dominant time-of-possession offense no longer in tow.

The Redskins dropped four straight to the Texans, Cowboys, Eagles, and Giants, free falling from 6-3 to 6-7 by Week 15. At that point, they looked to be out of the race completely. But then, Josh Johnson proved to be a surprise hero, leading the burgundy and gold to a win, the first win of Johnson’s career as a starter, in Week 15, against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Now, against the Tennessee Titans, the Redskins have a chance to leap back into the conversation for the final week, and the coaches have a fleeting chance to save themselves. They will take that chance, no doubt.

Josh Johnson, with another week of preparation, will look to be the hero again today, in a game where the Redskins may need more offensive production to keep up with Derrick Henry. After a downright strange turn of events, Johnson, the fourth starting quarterback of Washington’s 2018 season, is the key to making the playoffs.
