There are plenty of things to do in the offseason for the Redskins. But in the fine print, there are also things to *not* do.

The offseason pales in comparison to the glory and furor of the regular season, but this reputation does not accurately reflect the importance of the offseason. The offseason lays the foundation for a team’s success or failure, and in 2019, the Washington Redskins will need to be on top of their game away from the game.

The offseason blunders of Bruce Allen and Daniel Snyder over the past two decades have been well-documented, but recently, the Redskins at least found a semblance of stability. Their front seven-first philosophy on defense has yielded some success, but more must be done to properly attune to the modern NFL’s threshold of victory.

But, in their quest to complete the to-do list, there are grounds on which the Redskins must not forage. There is a list of “don’t’s” as well.

Earlier in the week, after Washington’s loss to the Cowboys, we outlined five potential top needs in the 2019 offseason for the Redskins. Now, let’s flip the script, and take a look at what the Redskins need to avoid, if they are to capitalize on their closing window of opportunity. Whatever you do, don’t do it.
