The Washington Redskins are still in the thick of the playoff race, but it’s never too early to look ahead. Here’s a look at what their biggest offseason needs will be in 2019.

I know you don’t really want to hear about next year. You want to hear about this year. You want to hear about how the Redskins are still in the playoff chase. They have a winning record at 6-5 and are in control of their own destiny regarding division title, especially if the Cowboys lose to the Saints on Thursday night as many expect.

So, why exactly are we talking about next offseason? Simply put, it’s time to start looking at the present and the future.

While things are looking decent for the Redskins right now as they look to make the playoffs this year, things aren’t guaranteed to work out. Furthermore, it’s okay to acknowledge what weaknesses a team has and might need to address moving forward in order to become a true contender. It’s just the nature of the business.

If you’re all aboard the bandwagon and only want to hear about this season, feel free to ignore all this talk. But, we’re going to take some time during this mini-bye to take a look at what the Redskins might have to do to be competitive in 2019. Here’s a look at the five biggest needs they may have come next offseason.
