Redskins Reality Checks Week 12: Redskins ruin Thanksgiving with loss in Dallas
By Tim Payne
A sleepwalking Redskins team lost in Dallas. Will they wake up before it’s too late?
This is a hard article to write. Maybe it’s the fact that after a holiday week, I’m feeling lethargic. Maybe it’s the fact that I feel cheated out of a large part of my holiday due to the giant egg laid by the Redskins on Thanksgiving afternoon. Maybe it’s because I can’t decide who to be most disappointed in or frustrated at.
Or maybe, it’s because I can’t decide whether there is truly still hope for this season or whether that hope I feel is naïve, blind, unadulterated fanaticism coming out.
Part of me wants to write about the enigma of Jay Gruden and his coaching staff and tenure in DC. Another part of me wants to write about a group of players who just don’t seem to be “gamers”. Part of me wants to write about a growing sense that there’s something fishy going on with the recent victimization of the Redskins by horrendous officiating.
But, what I’m supposed to be doing in this series is checking back in on what were the reasonable expectations and predictions for this game prior to it being played. So, quick, before the malaise sets back in, let’s look back at our Week 12 Redskins Reality Checks.
