#TreyQuinnSZN is back.

Okay, well, he’s not back yet. But Trey Quinn could be back on the field with the Washington Redskins in little time.

Over the last few weeks, injuries have mounted at wide receiver for the Redskins. In Week 7, the Redskins entered battle against the Dallas Cowboys without Paul Richardson and Jamison Crowder, arguably their two best wide receivers. The injuries forced them to sign Jehu Chesson off of the practice squad, and Michael Floyd entered Sunday’s contest as a starting receiver.

Needless to say, it’s been tough for the Redskins receiving core. Thus far, however, the pressure hasn’t been insurmountable. Alex Smith has had exterior outlets such as Jordan Reed, Vernon Davis, Kapri Bibbs, and Chris Thompson (out in Week 7) to rely on, and Adrian Peterson’s rejuvenation has helped the offense stay afloat.

That said, the Redskins are still in the business of finding help at the receiver position, and per J.P. Finlay of NBC Sports Mid-Atlantic, Washington plans to bring seventh-round rookie Trey Quinn back from injured reserve when he is eligible to return next week. Quinn is apparently farther along than Cam Sims, and he will serve as insurance for Jamison Crowder.

Quinn was selected by the Washington Redskins with the final pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent much of the offseason serving as one of Washington’s primary backups at wide receiver, and he also maintained a steady role early as one of the team’s rotational punt returners. It was during the assumption of this role that Quinn suffered an ankle sprain in Week 1, against the Arizona Cardinals. He was placed on injured reserve, ending his season temporarily.

That’s right. Trey Quinn is so good, he can come back from a season-ending injury in Week 8.

Jokes aside, the return of Quinn should be of benefit to the team. He’ll provide depth that hasn’t previously been there, and his route running prowess could mesh well with Alex Smith, as long as the latter continues to grow more comfortable with Jay Gruden’s schemes. There was a lot of excitement surrounding Quinn’s acquisition; some likened it to one of the best value deals of the draft. Now, it appears that Quinn may get a chance to prove it on the field.
