The Redskins got a true reality check on Monday night in New Orleans against a proven organization with a proven quarterback and a proven coach.

And this time, reality stings. It’s time for our postgame Washington Redskins Reality Checks for Week 5.

The Redskins had a golden opportunity on Monday Night Football to take the proverbial “next step” by showing out against a legitimate opponent at essentially full strength in prime time.  And like so many iterations of the Redskins before them, this group laid an egg in every possible, embarrassingly painful way.

The Redskins looked lost in the defensive backfield, looked flustered offensively, and looked undisciplined and underprepared as a whole. If this were a better team, this would be one of those “burn the tape” types of week. Just let it go and forget it. But Jay Gruden and this group don’t have that luxury. They have to own this loss. They have to wear this embarrassment. They have to find a way to learn from this debacle.
