This season, the Redskins middle linebacker group was healthy. That wasn’t the case last year, and Mason Foster missed half of the year with an injury. And to start the season, he has reminded many of why the team elected to re-sign him during the 2018 offseason.

Foster has been a solid tackler and generally has been a good all-around player for the ‘Skins. He has excellent tackling skills and those have done a lot to help the Redskins defense to improve in the first three games of the season.

I spoke of Foster’s role with the Redskins defense in my pre-Week 3 bold predictions and alluded to the fact that he would need a strong outing to help the Redskins beat the Packers.

More from Riggo's Rag

"Zach Brown has been dealing with a minor injury this week, but right now, he is expected to play. Still, he may need Mason Foster to help pick up the slack a bit, and as a result, this could be a big game for Foster. Foster has been a steady presence in the middle of the Redskins defense since he was signed by the squad. In two games this season, Foster is leading the team with 17 combined tackles and that number should only continue to go up, as his instincts will give him a chance to be a playmaker."

And that’s exactly what Foster did. He helped clean up the middle of the field and did well to limit the Packers offense when he could. That’s all that you can ask of from a stable veteran, and the more we see him play, the clearer it is that he’s a key part of this defense. He should keep this up during the “second half” of the season and continue to help the defense to be strong.
