Fantasy Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Week 2: Redskins vs Colts
Jamison Crowder: Start
Crowder is another start this week against a weak Colts defense. The slot receiver has made his name in the NFL by catching the shorter passes and creating big plays with the ball in his hands. Sunday will be no different. Totaling 32 yards last week, Crowder should get more involved this week with the potential absence of Paul Richardson. Jordan Reed’s injury history and the want by coaches to keep Thompson fresh and healthy should provide Crowder with a good amount of looks in Week 2. Jamison Crowder should see another 4-5 catch day and possible end up with a TD on his stat line. He is a semi-safe play and should be plugged into a flex spot for Week 2.
Josh Doctson: Sit
Doctson was back to his normal habits last week, being all but invisible in the team’s win. In Doctson’s defense, the team didn’t need to go outside or stretch the field, but having only one catch on three targets is worrisome. The 2016 first round pick is in now-or-never mode in Washington, and his inability to draw the looks of Alex Smith should be noted.

This week could be the week Smith looks to see what the relationship between him and the former TCU product is. The chemistry isn’t there yet, but the chance for it to get a pulse comes this weekend. Doctson is the typical “go up and get it” type possession receiver and Smith isn’t the 50/50 type ball thrower we’ve seen Kirk Cousins be at times.
Player Profiler listed Smith with 0 danger plays last week. Danger plays, by the site’s measures, is plays where a QB essentially tired to force the ball into a window. Smith’s low-frequency of danger plays means that Doctson’s 1-on-1 chances won’t get utilized unless needed.
Sitting Doctson is the smarter move this week. He is a breakout candidate if Smith has his chance to get him the ball, but the floor is just way too low to warrant a start in fantasy lineups. There will be days where Doctson could find his way into a lineup as a lock. Week 2 just isn’t it.
T.Y. Hilton: Start
Another obvious start is Hilton. His speed is something the Redskins didn’t deal with in any of the wideouts in Arizona and could give him a big day on Sunday. He will draw the likes of Josh Norman, who should limit Hilton’s short to mid-range production, but over the top is where Hilton will make his money.
The Redskins secondary just doesn’t have what it needs to shut Hilton down. He should find some space deep down the field and become a pain for Washington’s defense. The connection he has with Luck has been something special since Hilton broke into the league, and will continue Sunday with the Colts QB trying to get back into the flow of things. I can see Hilton having a big day where he could go for over 100 yards and have a score or two to his total. He is almost always a weekly start unless he draws a terrible matchup but this Redskins team isn’t that. Keep Hilton plugged into to your line up and trust he will get it done.
