No. 2 – Redskins hold Colts to under 50 yards rushing

Last week, the Colts came out of their game against the Cincinnati Bengals with 75 rushing yards.

Theoretically, their running back has good upside, and a decent floor as is. Marlon Mack is a serviceable rotational player, Jordan Wilkins is a rookie with modern workhorse potential, and Nyheim Hines, a first-year player out of NC State, has upside as a solid third down back.

That said, the Redskins’ revamped defensive front held David Johnson to just 31 yards in Week 1. Daron Payne looked stellar in run support, as did Jonathan Allen, Matt Ioannidis, and Tim Settle. Second and third level players such as Zach Brown and Montae Nicholson also provided help.

The Colts have a road-grader on their offensive front in Quenton Nelson, but one player doesn’t make a unit, and the Colts’ running backs might have trouble compensating for mistakes on the line. They won’t get the running game going on Sunday, which is why they’ll have to rely on their trusty signal caller.
