No. 4 – DL Daron Payne

In his first in-game action with the Redskins, rookie defensive lineman Daron Payne lived up to his first-round billing, logging a sack on fellow first-round rookie Sam Darnold. The hype train is officially rolling. Against Denver, Payne will look to keep it going.

Payne is just one piece of a vastly-improved front line, but he could arguably be the most talented player of the bunch. Players are drafted at certain spots for a reason, and Payne, with his strength, length, and athleticism, was a first-round talent the Redskins couldn’t afford to pass up.

Now, heading into Week 3 of preseason, it’s clear that the Redskins’ investment in Alabama defensive linemen in paying off. In the first two weeks, the defensive line unit has flashed dominance.

Against a Broncos’ offensive line that has room for improvement, despite upgrades made this offseason, the trend of dominance will be expected to continue, and Payne is the ever-important catalyst.
