Washington Redskins fans make the cut in the Fandom 250

FanSided’s annual Fandom 250 rankings are in, and you, Redskins fans, made the cut!

Every year, our parent website, FanSided, puts together the 250 best fanbases in the world. It’s called, quite appropriately, the Fandom 250. 250 might seem like a big number, but no stone is left unturned in this harrowing search. Fan bases of television shows, music icons, video games, internet hotshots, comic books, shoe lines, fast food chains, and even all-time worst movies get a look as ranking members.

It’s an exclusive club, to say the least. And this year, only sixteen NFL fan bases were awarded a spot among the ranks of the best. And you, the fans of the Redskins, were one of those fan bases. The Redskins came in as the 14th highest NFL fan base, falling in at No. 177 on the list after the voting.

It’s a fitting honor for a group of people that has stuck with this team through a lot of thick and not a lot of thin. The glory days of the 1980s and early ’90s are long gone, but the unwavering support for the team is ever there, ever present, and teeming with life. It doesn’t matter what mess Bruce Allen concocts this week, or what controversy Dan Snyder manages to spark today. It doesn’t matter how high they rise, or how disastrously they fall. You, the fans, have remained loyal. You’ve remained resolute. And every Sunday, you watch the games, no matter how confident you are that they’ll lose by double digits. That’s deserving of an applause. A standing ovation. Go ahead and pat yourself on the back. You’ve earned it.
